MEET OUR TEAM

'My journey in Tae Kwon Do started in 1988. I am now a 7th degree black belt, the highest ranking female in the North of England and an international referee. I have worked as a teacher for over 30 years, for much of that time I have worked with children with special needs. I opened the Leeds club in 1993. I am passionate about supporting my students to become the best that they can be in their own Tae Kwon Do journey.'

I first started training in Martial Arts in 1989 at the age of 13, practicing both Freestyle Karate and Kickboxing continuing until I finished university by which time I was a 2nd degree black belt in Karate. It was during university that I also started training in Tae Kwon Do. After a break due to injury and career I came back to Tae Kwon Do in 2007, joining the Leeds club and have not looked back. I am now a 5th degree black belt, and regularly teach at the club and referee at national and international competitions.

I started Taekwondo training in 1998. I lacked confidence so I was encouraged to give it a go as it would be also good for fitness and meeting new people.
I started to compete in competitions and I am now a referee and an assistant instructor. I enjoy training and I am keen to pass my knowledge on to other students.
I am currently a 4th Dan and aiming to grade for my 5th Dan.

I took up Tae Kwon Do in my thirties, mainly to keep fit but also because I wanted to learn something completely new. I didn't start out with any particular target in mind but progressed quickly and was delighted to achieve my 1st degree black belt in 2023. I have since gone on to qualify as both an umpire and assistant instructor. I've really enjoyed learning more as I've progressed and am keen to pass this knowledge on to others.

TESTIMONIALS
Ava really enjoys the fact she has learned her patterns fully. She says Tae Kwon Do makes her happy as she loves the kicking and punching. As her mammy, I think the support and structure is really great. I can see how much Ava has progressed throughout her time here and she can’t wait every week to come to the sessions. She takes pride in her practice and wants to do her best.

Fiona Brown's TAGB Taekwondo School Leeds has been an amazing journey for both my sons. My eldest proudly earned his Junior black belt in 2017, and my younger son continues to thrive, achieving his yellow stripe last year. Miss Fiona's teaching is a perfect blend of support, expertise, and fun, fostering physical and mental growth in every student. Her deep knowledge of Taekwondo, from patterns to sparring, instills not only self-defence skills but also respect, discipline, and the true essence of this martial art. Taekwondo with Miss Fiona is a holistic experience that strengthens both mind and body.

My children have been coming for at least 4 years now after being recommended by a friend. They love it. We have always felt welcomed. Miss Brown takes an interest in her students and knows how to get the best out of them, whatever their age or experience. It is a great indoor club that runs throughout the whole year, meaning my children get regular exercise and see their friends, whatever the weather and all year round.

'My three children have attended Miss Brown's classes for 6 years now. They are all at different stages of their TKD journeys but it is great to see the confidence and resilience that it has helped to develop in them all.
The lessons are fun and varied in a very supportive and inclusive environment and all three children look forward to attending each week. I would highly recommend it!'
